Living Water by Chuck Smith

(John 7:37-8) – Jesus said, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink… as the Scripture said, from his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.” … this He said in reference to the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive.

Pastor Chuck Smith, founder of the Calvary Chapel movement wrote a book about the power of the Holy Spirit in your life and titled it “Living Water”. The Holy Spirit is the primary agent of the Godhead working in the world today. He is the person of the Godhead to whom we relate most closely. He is the One who is gathering a body of believers – the bride of Christ – to present unto the Lord. And the church through the Holy Spirit is doing the work of God in the world. He is here to be our strength. He is here to be our provider. Anytime that we need help in any kind of situation, we can know that the Holy Spirit is here to be our helper. That is why it is so vitally important that each of us come to know the person of the Holy Spirit, to know Him in His fullness.

To this end, we will be reading and discussing the book Living Water this fall. May we all experience this living water as we walk in the Spirit, delighting in the fullness that God desires for each of us.

This study is especially for a new believer in Jesus Christ, or one having had little or no experience with Christianity, to help you grow in your faith and to understand what Jesus meant when He said, “Follow Me”. Join us as we learn what is essential in our response to Him and as we encourage each other how to follow Jesus as disciples. You will also learn how to study the Word of God for yourself, as the way to truly know who God reveals Himself to be.

The letter to the Romans is full of doctrinal statements about the nature of God, the nature of man, means of salvation, personal conduct, our coming redemption and more. We will work our way through the entire letter verse by verse so it will take us through the fall/winter/spring groups.

We will take a few weeks to discuss what makes up a Biblical Worldview and how it compares and contrasts with other worldviews. Then we will embark on a video tour called “The Engagement Project” that consists of ten video tours. The Engagement Project is a call to the body of Christ to awaken from its slumber and to begin to be the light and salt we were meant to be.  Why did Jesus leave? Why does God send? What is God’s endgame for you and for me? The answers to these questions are not for the faint of heart, but we will wrestle with them together.
