Mountains Moving Through Missions: The Power of Persevering Prayer

This class will examine how ongoing and persevering prayer is essential in answering the call to missions.  Obstacles, cultural divides, and spiritual warfare all necessitate a need for constant communication through prayer with our Heavenly Father.  Practical insights through Scripture, real life stories, and careful obedience to the Father’s voice will all be explored. All classes will be held through Zoom unless otherwise noted. Class leaders will communicate any potential changes in the class location.

Calvary Hillsboro is active in missions throughout the world and supporting church planting through our missionaries. Did you know we support roughly 30 missionaries? Have you ever wondered where all of this takes place, who some of our missionary families are, what ministry looks like in their mission field, and how best families at Calvary can be connected to global and local missions? This class will take place twice, but each class will focus on a different list of missionaries. We hope you can attend both, so you will hear about the majority of our supported missionaries.

All classes will be held through Zoom unless otherwise noted. Class leaders will communicate any potential changes in the class location.

(Repeat of July 28 class)

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desire of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16
This summer class is a passionate overview of seeking God, particularly the Holy Spirit, and challenging biblical reminders of how it can impact our lives and walk in trying times. We will be referencing “The Pursuit of God” by A. W. Tozer and “Forgotten God” by Francis Chan. We will see the Old Testament heritage of our God perfectly balance the New Testament redemption and its work through the Holy Spirit, the Helper Jesus said would come. Walk away with a challenge to seek more truth from God’s word.

(Repeat of June 26 class)

The Greek word for saint is “hagios, which means “one who is separated unto God.” In this sense, every believer, even the most ordinary and the most immature is a saint. But for many of us, there is sin in our life which blocks our relationship with Him. If we do not deal with these sins, they can become a stronghold in our life. Please join this summer class for an interactive discussion of how one can face and defeat these strongholds we all may have in our lives.

: In 2001 many in our church found themselves unemployed.  A prayer group began which met weekly for encouragement, prayer, and sharing of tools to trust God in helping each other find jobs.  Week by week the group shrank until after 30 days, everyone in the group found employment and God received the glory.  COVID-19 is impacting or will impact many in our church who have or possibly will find themselves without work.  Register for this online group as we pray and encourage each other for God’s provision among us.

**New participants will be contacted by the group leader with instructions on how to join the Zoom meeting.

For adults ages 18-29 years of age. These groups gather in different homes in the Hillsboro area during the week to eat a meal, get to know new people, and study Scripture. These groups will also participate in different “hang-out” activities during the year, as well as serving in the community.

We live in a confusing world. As women, we have lots of voices telling us how to live and what to think. It can become overwhelming and fill us with anxiety. But it does not have to be this way…God, through Jesus Christ, has shown Himself and gives us guidance, direction, and His peace to lead a victorious life. His truths will set us free from fear and give us the firm foundation we need to lead a steady life of faith and not be tossed around by the teachings and philosophies of this world. Missional Growth Group
As disciples of Jesus, we strive to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did. The answer of how to accomplish this is through teaching, practice, community, and the Holy Spirit. In this young adult group, we will be learning what it means to be a disciple, or apprentice, of Jesus. As we are all part of the family of God, we will take time each week to pray together, study God’s word, and share life together. We believe that through the ordinary rhythms of life in community and by applying what we learn from the sermons, we will become transformed to look more like Jesus.
