Winning the Battle Between Your Ears
Colossians 3:1-4
March 14-15, 2026
Introduction
1. There is a battle that rages every single day.
a. It is not fought with fists.
b. It is not fought with weapons.
c. It is fought between our ears.
ILLUS – My first sermon at CCWC (January 1994)
2. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Pastor Rich could follow us around 24 hours a day – whispering courage when we feel afraid, speaking truth when we feel confused, correcting us when we drift?
3. While we are blessed to have a wonderful pastor, the truth is no pastor can be everywhere telling us, “You’ve got this!”
4. Yet we are not alone. We have an ever-present, all-knowing, all-powerful Wonderful Counselor – Jesus Christ, our Savior.
5. And we have the living Word of God.
6. So, God did not leave us defenseless in the war for our minds.
7. In Colossians 3, the Apostle Paul gives us divine principles for winning the battle between our ears – the battle against doubt, fear, temptation, discouragement, and deception.
Colossians 3:1-4
Context
1. The Apostle Paul wrote this letter while sitting in a Roman prison.
a. He was chained.
b. He was restricted.
c. He was unjustly confined.
2. Paul had never met the believers in Colossae. Yet he was deeply concerned for them because false teachers were attacking their faith.
3. Imagine the potential battle inside Paul’s mind. He could have thought:
a. “This isn’t fair.”
b. “Why is God allowing this?”
c. “I gave my life for the Gospel, and this is what I get?”
4. Instead, from a prison cell, Paul writes one of the most Christ-exalting letters in the New Testament. Why?
5. Because Paul had already won the battle between his ears.
a. Colossians 3 is not theory.
b. It is trench warfare wisdom.
c. It is a letter from a dear saint who suffered well because he lived victoriously.
6. And if it worked in a prison cell, it will work in your living room.
Transition – The first key to win the battle between your ears is to. . .
I. Keep Seeking the Things Above (1)
• Our world is filled with beauty – but also with bait.
• Temptation today is not hidden. It’s not buried. It’s one click away.
• And with algorithms tracking your habits, it could be said: If you’re looking for trouble, you will find it. In fact, trouble is looking for you.
• It was true in Paul’s day and I submit it is even more true today.
• So, Paul says the first key to victory is to keep seeking the things above.
o Not occasionally
o Not when it is convenient.
o Continually.
• Why? Because. . .
A. You have been raised up with Christ (1a)
1. The moment a person places their faith in Jesus Christ:
a. All of the blessings of Jesus Christ’s death are immediately applied to their life resulting in the complete forgiveness of their sins.
b. This also means all the benefits of Jesus’ resurrection are applied to their life resulting in the gift of eternal life.
2. So, all the benefits of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection belong to us who have placed our faith in Jesus Christ.
a. It can be truly said that Christ’s death is our death and His life is our life.
b. Therefore, Jesus Christ’s victory is our victory.
APPL – You are not fighting for victory.
• You are fighting from victory.
o It is a done deal.
o It is an accomplished fact.
• Paul reinforces this point in Romans 8, that those God justified, He also glorified.
Romans 8:30, . . . and these whom He called, these He also justified; and these whom He justified, these He also glorified.
• Please notice that Paul uses past tense verbs, which means our future glorification with Jesus was guaranteed the moment we placed our faith in Jesus, when we were justified.
• This is our real identity in Christ, the matter is settled.
• This is also why Satan attacks our minds by making us question our identity in Christ.
• But if you are in Christ, your identity is not in question, nor is it fragile – it is anchored in the risen Christ. . . you have been raised up with Christ so keep seeking the things above.
Transition – But in order to experience Jesus Christ’s victory over the battle between your ears. . .
B. You must have an undivided heart (1b)
1. Keep seeking is a divine command.
2. It means to continually “strive” intentionally, “seek earnestly”, “to fix our attention decisively” upon Jesus now and always. Refuse divided loyalties.
APPL – Paul lived this way.
• Paul experienced Christ’s victory over the battle between his ears because he knew who he was in Christ.
• And Paul kept seeking the things above because he had an undivided heart.
• In fact, Paul gave us another inspiring glimpse into his heart when he shared with the Philippians how he applied this command to his personal journey of faith.
Philippians 3:13-14, Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
• “One thing I do. . .”
o Not twenty competing pursuits.
o Not divided passions.
o One thing.
• The battle between your ears is often a battle between divided affection.
3. So, Paul is telling us that our lives must be governed by the pattern of things in heaven, which is precisely how Jesus taught us to pray.
Matthew 6:9-10, Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
APPL – You cannot seek heaven and cling to the world at the same time.
• If you want victory, then you need a new pursuit.
• Love what God loves.
• Hate what God hates.
• Choose God’s will over your impulses.
• We must pray for God’s will to be done in our lives; that there is no difference between how God’s will is executed in heaven and how God’s will is executed in our lives here on earth.
APPL – That’s why Paul could say in. . .
2 Corinthians 5:9, Therefore also we have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.
• Ambition is not wrong.
• Misplaced ambition is.
ILLUS – Words to our daughter.
C. You are seated with Christ (1c)
1. Jesus Christ is seated at the right hand of God the Father.
a. And spiritually-speaking, you are seated with Him.
b. That position changes everything.
2. At Father God’s right-hand, Jesus Christ justifies, sanctifies, and intercedes for His Church.
Romans 8:33-34, Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
3. Why does Jesus intercede for us?
a. He knows our frame, that we need His comfort, guidance, and protection.
b. Jesus also knows that we can be easily distracted by the cares, worries, and temptations of this life, so He comes to our rescue and gives us His much-needed grace.
Hebrews 4:14-16, Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
APPL – The truth is we must be intentional about what we seek each day of our lives.
• The glorious revelation of being seated with Christ in the heavenlies must impact how we stand here on earth as Christians.
Quote: The late Senator Hubert Humphrey once said, “You must remember that in politics, how you stand depends on where you sit.”
• Upon hearing this quote, one Christian commentator wrote, “How I stand – and walk – depends on where I sit; and I am seated with Christ in the heavenlies!”
• When you forget where you are seated, you lose confidence in how you stand.
Transition – In verses 2-3, Paul gives us the second key for how to win the battle between the ears.
II. Keep Setting Your Mind on the Things Above (2-3)
• In verse 2, Paul shifts from pursuit to focus.
• “To set” is another command to be continually obeyed.
• “To set” means to “concentrate your mind.
o This is not passive thinking.
o It involves training your mind instead of letting your mind be trained by someone else.
• Paul then provides the target we must focus on – that which is eternal, not temporal.
APPL – A temporal thing is a transitory thing, a thing that is vulnerable to change and will eventually become obsolete.

2 Corinthians 4:18, . . . the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Transition – Paul repeats himself and adds a contrast between the things in heaven versus the things on earth because he knows human nature.
Paul knows. . .
A. Your heart will follow your treasure (2)
Matthew 6:21, . . . for where your treasure is, there will be your heart also.
1. Your mind will gravitate towards what you value.
a. If your treasure is approval, then your mind will obsess over what people think.
b. If you treasure money, then your mind will fixate on security.
c. Here’s the problem – if we concentrate on what is temporal, then we will focus on what is ultimately unfulfilling and uncertain.
2. But if Christ is your treasure, then your mind will focus on Him.
a. And if Christ is your treasure, then you will focus on what is eternal.
b. And if you concentrate on what is eternal, then you will focus on what truly satisfies and is certain.
Philippians 3:8, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ
APPL – What we value and what we treasure will reveal what we have set our minds on.
Matthew 6:33, But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.
Transition – Next, Paul says, “You have died.” What does Paul mean?
B. You have died with Christ (3a)
1. Jesus Christ died for us, as our Substitute.
a. Jesus Christ not only died for our sins, to pay sin’s penalty. . .
b. Jesus Christ also died unto sin to break sin’s power over us.
2. When Paul says that we have died with Christ, he is once again speaking of our identification with Jesus Christ.
Romans 6:2, 11, How shall we who died to sin still live in it? . . . Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
ILLUS – Two sisters’ response to a party invitation after placing their faith in Jesus. . .
APPL – That’s not denial. That’s identity.
• We have died with Christ.
• The battle between our ears is lost when we forget that sin is no longer our master.
3. Paul is speaking of the victory that we have through our faith in and identification with Jesus Christ.
4. Through Jesus Christ we can now say “No” to sin and be more than conquerors in Jesus.
Romans 8:37, But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
C. Your life is hidden with Christ (3b)
1. To be “hidden” means that “we are secure” not vulnerable.
John 10:27-30, My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
2. What has been hidden will one day be revealed; meaning all will one day know what we now know; that we belong to the Lord.
1 John 3:2-4, Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we shall be. We know that, when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
APPL – As Christians we are both dead and alive.
• Dead to sin but alive to Christ.
• Dead to the world but alive in Christ.
Galatians 2:20, I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.
Transition – The last key is found in verse 4. When the battle between our ears is overwhelming, we must remember. . .
III. Christ is Our Life (4)
A. Christ is Life (4a)
1. Jesus is the only Way to true Life.
John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.
2. Jesus is the Giver of Eternal Life.
1 John 5:11-12, And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
APPL – Christ’s life changes lives.
ILLUS – The examples of James and Paul.
B. Bring Christ glory until He returns (4b)
1. Jesus is coming back.
2. One day Christ will be revealed and so will we.
3. The battle in your mind is temporary. The glory is eternal.
4. May we be ready for His return.
5. Peter tells us to prepare our minds for action.
1 Peter 1:13-16, Therefore, gird your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.’
APPL – Literally, “Gird up the loins of your mind.”
• Take your thoughts captive.
• Be intentional.
• Because Jesus is coming back.
Conclusion
APPL – How is the battle between your ears?
• Is your heart united or divided?
• Is your treasure eternal or temporary?
• Where are seeking life?
o Victory begins with identity.
o Victory continues with heavenly pursuit.
o Victory is sustained by an undivided focus.
o Victory culminates in glory.
• Christ is our life.
• May we echo the words of Psalm 19:14 and bring Christ glory until He returns.
Psalm 19:14, Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.

Introducción
ILUSTRACIÓN (ILUS)– Mi primer sermón en CCWC (enero de 1994)
1. Hay una batalla que se libra cada día.
a. No se combate a puñetazos.
b. No se combate con armas.
c. Se libra entre nuestras orejas.
2. ¿ No sería maravilloso que el pastor Rich nos acompañara las 24 horas del día, susurrándonos palabras de aliento cuando sentimos miedo, diciéndonos la verdad cuando nos sentimos confundidos y corrigiéndonos cuando nos desviamos?
3. Si bien tenemos la bendición de tener un pastor maravilloso, la verdad es que ningún pastor puede estar en todas partes diciéndonos: “¡Tú puedes!”
4. Sin embargo, no estamos solos. Tenemos un Consejero Maravilloso, omnipresente, omnisciente y todopoderoso: Jesucristo, nuestro Salvador.
5. Y tenemos la Palabra viva de Dios.
6. Así pues, Dios no nos dejó indefensos en la batalla por nuestras mentes.
7. En Colosenses 3, el apóstol Pablo nos da principios divinos para ganar la batalla que tenemos entre las orejas: la batalla contra la duda, el miedo, la tentación, el desaliento y el engaño.

1 Si ustedes, pues, han resucitado con Cristo, busquen las cosas de arriba, donde está Cristo sentado a la diestra de Dios.
2 Pongan la mira en las cosas de arriba, no en las de la tierra.
3 Porque han muerto, y su vida está escondida con Cristo en Dios.
4 Cuando Cristo, nuestra vida, sea manifestado, entonces ustedes también serán manifestados con Él en gloria.
Contexto
1. El apóstol Pablo escribió esta carta mientras estaba en una prisión romana.
a. Estaba encadenado.
b. Estaba restringido.
c. Fue confinado injustamente.
2. Pablo nunca había conocido a los creyentes de Colosas. Sin embargo, estaba profundamente preocupado por ellos porque falsos maestros atacaban su fe.
3. Imagina la batalla potencial que se libraba en la mente de Pablo. Podría haber pensado:
a. “Esto no es justo.”
b. “¿Por qué Dios permite esto?”
c. “Di mi vida por el Evangelio, ¿y esto es lo que recibo?”
4. En cambio, desde una celda de prisión, Pablo escribe una de las cartas que exaltan más a Cristo en el Nuevo Testamento. ¿Por qué?
5. Porque Pablo ya había ganado la batalla entre sus orejas.
a. Colosenses 3 no es una teoría.

c. Es una carta de un querido santo que sufrió bien porque vivió victoriosamente.
6. Y si funcionó en una celda de prisión, funcionará en tu sala de estar.
TRANSICIÓN (TRAN) La primera clave para ganar la batalla entre tus oídos es…
I. Sigue buscando las cosas de arriba (1)
● Nuestro mundo está lleno de belleza, pero también de trampas.
● Hoy en día, la tentación no está oculta. No está enterrada. Está a un clic de distancia.
● Y con algoritmos que rastrean tus hábitos, se podría decir: si buscas problemas, los encontrarás. De hecho, los problemas te buscan a ti.
● Era cierto en tiempos de Pablo y sostengo que lo es aún más hoy en día.
● Así pues, Pablo dice que la primera clave para la victoria es seguir buscando las cosas de arriba.
o No ocasionalmente
o No cuando resulta conveniente.
o Continuamente.
● ¿Por qué? Porque…
A. Has resucitado con Cristo (1a)
1. El momento en que una persona deposita su fe en Jesucristo:
a. Todas las bendiciones de la muerte de Jesucristo se aplican inmediatamente a su vida, lo que resulta en el perdón completo de sus pecados.
b. Esto también significa que todos los beneficios de la resurrección de Jesús se aplican a su vida, lo que resulta en el don de la vida eterna.
2. Por lo tanto, todos los beneficios de la muerte y resurrección de Jesucristo nos pertenecen a nosotros, que hemos puesto nuestra fe en Jesucristo.
a. Se puede decir con toda verdad que la muerte de Cristo es nuestra muerte y su vida es nuestra vida.

APL – No estás luchando por la victoria.

● Pablo refuerza este punto en Romanos 8, diciendo que a quienes Dios justificó, también los glorificó.
Romanos 8:30, . . . “y a quienes llamó, a éstos también justificó; y a quienes justificó, a éstos también glorificó”.
● Tenga en cuenta que Pablo utiliza verbos en tiempo pasado, lo que significa que nuestra futura glorificación con Jesús quedó garantizada en el momento en que depositamos nuestra fe en Jesús, cuando fuimos justificados.
● Esta es nuestra verdadera identidad en Cristo, el asunto está resuelto.
● Esta es también la razón por la que Satanás ataca nuestras mentes haciéndonos cuestionar nuestra identidad en Cristo.
● Pero si estás en Cristo, tu identidad no está en duda, ni es frágil; está anclada en el Cristo resucitado… has resucitado con Cristo, así que sigue buscando las cosas de arriba.
TRANS – Pero para experimentar la victoria de Jesucristo sobre la batalla entre tus oídos…
B. Debes tener un corazón indiviso (1b)
1. “Seguir buscando pues” es un mandato de Dios.
2. Significa que nos esforzarnos continuamente con intención, buscamos con ahínco, fijamos nuestra atención decisivamente en Jesús ahora y siempre. Rechazamos las lealtades divididas.
APL – Pablo vivía de esta manera.
● Pablo experimentó la victoria de Cristo sobre la batalla que libraba entre sus oídos porque sabía quién era en Cristo.
● Y Pablo seguía buscando las cosas de arriba porque tenía un corazón íntegro.
● De hecho, Pablo nos ofreció otra visión inspiradora de su corazón cuando compartió con los filipenses cómo aplicó este mandamiento a su propio camino de fe.
Filipenses 3:13-14, “Hermanos, no pretendo haberlo alcanzado ya; pero una cosa hago: olvidando lo que queda atrás y extendiéndome a lo que está adelante, prosigo hacia la meta para obtener el premio del supremo llamamiento de Dios en Cristo Jesús”.
● “Una cosa que hago…”
o No son veinte actividades que compiten entre sí.
o No son pasiones divididas.
o Es una cosa, un objetivo, descrito en Filipenses 3:13-14.
● La batalla que se libra entre tus orejas suele ser una batalla entre ‘afectos’ divididos.
3. Así pues, Pablo nos está diciendo que nuestras vidas deben regirse por el modelo de las cosas en el cielo, que es precisamente como Jesús nos enseñó a orar.
Mateo 6:9-10, “Padre nuestro, que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu nombre. Venga tu reino. Hágase tu voluntad en la tierra como en el cielo”.
APL – No puedes buscar el cielo y aferrarte al mundo al mismo tiempo.
● Si quieres la victoria, necesitas un nuevo objetivo.
● Ama lo que Dios ama.
● Odia lo que Dios odia.
● Elige la voluntad de Dios por encima de tus impulsos.
● Debemos orar para que se haga la voluntad de Dios en nuestras vidas; para que no haya diferencia entre cómo se ejecuta la voluntad de Dios en el cielo y cómo se ejecuta la voluntad de Dios en nuestras vidas aquí en la tierra.
APL– Por eso Pablo pudo decir en…
2 Corintios 5:9, “Por lo tanto, también nosotros tenemos como meta, ya sea que estemos presentes o ausentes, agradarle”.
● La ambición no es mala.
● La ambición mal encauzada si es mala.
ILUS– Palabras para nuestra hija….
C. Estás sentado con Cristo (1c)
1. Jesucristo está sentado a la derecha de Dios Padre.
a. Y espiritualmente hablando, estás sentado con Él.
b. Esa posición lo cambia todo.
2. A la diestra de Dios Padre, Jesucristo justifica, santifica e intercede por su Iglesia.
Romanos 8:33-34, “¿Quién acusará a los escogidos de Dios? Dios es el que justifica; ¿quién es el que condena? Cristo Jesús es el que murió, más aún, el que resucitó, el que está a la diestra de Dios, el que intercede por nosotros”.
3. ¿Por qué intercede Jesús por nosotros?
a. Él conoce nuestra naturaleza, que necesitamos Su consuelo, guía y protección.
b. Jesús también sabe que podemos distraernos fácilmente con las preocupaciones, las inquietudes y las tentaciones de esta vida, por lo que viene a nuestro rescate y nos da su gracia tan necesaria.
Hebreos 4:14-16, “Puesto que tenemos un gran sumo sacerdote que traspasó los cielos, Jesús el Hijo de Dios, mantengamos firme nuestra confesión. Porque no tenemos un sumo sacerdote que no pueda compadecerse de nuestras debilidades, sino uno que fue tentado en todo según nuestra semejanza, pero sin pecado. Acerquémonos, pues, con confianza al trono de la gracia, para alcanzar misericordia y hallar gracia para el oportuno socorro”.
APL– La verdad es que debemos ser intencionales en lo que buscamos cada día de nuestras vidas
● La gloriosa revelación de estar sentados con Cristo en los lugares celestiales debe influir en cómo nos comportamos aquí en la tierra como cristianos.
Cita: El difunto senador Hubert Humphrey dijo una vez: “Debes recordar que en política, tu postura depende de en dónde te sientas”.
● Al escuchar esta cita, un comentarista cristiano escribió: “Mi postura y mi forma de caminar dependen de dónde me siento; ¡y estoy sentado con Cristo en los lugares celestiales!”.
● Cuando olvidas dónde estás sentado, pierdes la confianza en tu postura.
TRAN – En los versículos 2 y 3, Pablo nos da la segunda clave para ganar la batalla que está en la mente.
II. Mantén tu mente fija en las cosas de arriba (2-3)
● En el versículo 2, Pablo pasa de la búsqueda al enfoque.
● “Establecer” es otra orden que debe obedecerse continuamente.
● “Concentrarse” significa “enfocar la mente”.
o Esto no es pensamiento pasivo.
o Consiste en entrenar tu mente en lugar de dejar que otra persona la entrene.
● Pablo entonces nos indica en qué debemos centrarnos: en lo eterno, no en lo temporal.
APL– Una cosa temporal es algo transitorio, algo vulnerable al cambio y que eventualmente quedará obsoleto.

2 Corintios 4:18, . . . “Las cosas que se ven son temporales, pero las cosas que no se ven son eternas”.
TRANS: Pablo se repite y añade un contraste entre las cosas del cielo y las cosas de la tierra porque conoce la naturaleza humana.
Pablo lo sabe…
A. Tu corazón seguirá a tu tesoro (2)
Mateo 6:21 , . . . “porque donde esté tu tesoro, allí estará también tu corazón”.
1. Tu mente se inclinará hacia aquello que valoras.
a. Si tu tesoro es la aprobación, entonces tu mente se obsesionará con lo que la gente piensa.
b. Si valoras el dinero, entonces tu mente se centrará en la seguridad.
c. Aquí está el problema: si nos concentramos en lo que es temporal, entonces nos centraremos en lo que en última instancia es insatisfactorio e incierto.
2. Pero si Cristo es tu tesoro, entonces tu mente estará enfocada en Él.
a. Y si Cristo es tu tesoro, entonces te centrarás en lo que es eterno.
b. Y si te concentras en lo que es eterno, entonces te enfocarás en lo que verdaderamente satisface y es seguro.
Filipenses 3:8 , “Considero que todo lo demás es pérdida comparado con el valor incomparable de conocer a Cristo Jesús, mi Señor, por quien lo he perdido todo, y lo considero basura con tal de ganar a Cristo”.
APL– Lo que valoramos y apreciamos revelará aquello en lo que nos hemos fijado…
Mateo 6:33, “Pero buscad primero el reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas”.
TRANS– A continuación, Pablo dice: “Has muerto”. ¿Qué quiere decir Pablo?
B. Has muerto con Cristo (3a)
1. Jesucristo murió por nosotros, como nuestro Sustituto.
a. Jesucristo no solo murió por nuestros pecados, para pagar la pena del pecado. . .
b. Jesucristo también murió al pecado para romper el poder del pecado sobre nosotros.
2. Cuando Pablo dice que hemos muerto con Cristo, se refiere una vez más a nuestra identificación con Jesucristo.
Romanos 6:2 ,11, “¿Cómo nosotros, que hemos muerto al pecado, seguiremos viviendo en él? . . . Así también ustedes, considérense muertos al pecado, pero vivos para Dios en Cristo Jesús”.
ILUS– La respuesta de dos hermanas a una invitación a una fiesta después de depositar su fe en Jesús….
APL – Eso no es negación. Eso es identidad.
● Hemos muerto con Cristo.
● La batalla que libramos en nuestra mente se pierde cuando olvidamos que el pecado ya no es nuestro amo.
3. Pablo habla de la victoria que tenemos a través de nuestra fe en Jesucristo y nuestra identificación con Él.
4. Por medio de Jesucristo ahora podemos decir “No” al pecado y ser más que vencedores en Jesús.
Romanos 8:37 , “Pero en todas estas cosas somos más que vencedores por medio de aquel que nos amó”
C. Tu vida está escondida con Cristo (3b)
1. Estar “oculto” significa que “estamos seguros”, no vulnerables.
Juan 10:27-30, “Mis ovejas oyen mi voz, y yo las conozco, y me siguen; y yo les doy vida eterna, y no perecerán jamás, ni nadie las arrebatará de mi mano. Mi Padre, que me las ha dado, es mayor que todos, y nadie puede arrebatarlas de la mano del Padre”.
2. Lo que ha estado oculto un día será revelado; lo que significa que todos un día sabrán lo que nosotros ahora sabemos; que pertenecemos al Señor.
1 Juan 3:2-4, “Amados, ahora somos hijos de Dios, y aún no se ha manifestado lo que seremos. Sabemos que cuando él se manifieste, seremos semejantes a él, porque lo veremos tal como es. Y todo aquel que tiene esta esperanza puesta en Él, se purifica a sí mismo, así como Él es puro”.
APL – Como cristianos, estamos muertos y vivos a la vez.
● Muertos al pecado, pero vivos para Cristo.
● Muertos para el mundo, pero vivos en Cristo .
Gálatas 2:20, “Con Cristo he sido crucificado, y ya no vivo yo, sino que Cristo vive en mí; y lo que ahora vivo en la carne, lo vivo por la fe en el Hijo de Dios, quien me amó y se entregó a sí mismo por mí”.
TRANS– La última clave se encuentra en el versículo 4. Cuando la batalla entre nuestros oídos es abrumadora, debemos recordar…
III. Cristo es nuestra vida (4)
A. Cristo es Vida (4a)
1. Jesús es el único camino a la verdadera vida.
Juan 14:6, Yo soy el camino, la verdad y la vida; nadie viene al Padre sino por mí.
2. Jesús es el dador de la vida eterna.
1 Juan 5:11-12, “Y este es el testimonio: que Dios nos ha dado vida eterna, y esta vida está en su Hijo. El que tiene al Hijo tiene la vida; el que no tiene al Hijo de Dios no tiene la vida”.
APL– La vida de Cristo transforma vidas.
ILUS– Los ejemplos de Santiago y Pablo…
B. Traigan gloria a Cristo hasta que Él regrese (4b)
1. Jesús va a regresar.
2. Un día Cristo será revelado, y nosotros también.
3. La batalla en tu mente es temporal. La gloria es eterna.
4. Estemos preparados para su regreso.
5. Pedro nos dice que preparemos nuestra mente para la acción.
1 Pedro 1:13-16, “Por lo tanto, preparen sus mentes para la acción, manténganse sobrios en espíritu, pongan toda su esperanza en la gracia que se les traerá cuando Jesucristo se manifieste. Como hijos obedientes, no se conformen a los deseos que antes tenían en su ignorancia, sino sean santos también ustedes, como el Santo que los llamó, en toda su conducta; porque escrito está: sean santos, porque Yo soy santo”.
APL – Literalmente, “Cíñete los lomos de la mente”.
● Toma tus pensamientos cautivos.
● Sea intencional.
● Porque Jesús va a regresar.
Conclusión
APL – ¿Cómo va la batalla entre tus oídos?
● ¿Tu corazón, está unido o dividido?
● ¿Tu tesoro, es eterno o temporal?
● ¿Dónde buscas la vida?
o La victoria comienza con la identidad.
o La victoria continúa con la búsqueda celestial.
o La victoria se sustenta en una concentración absoluta.
o La victoria culmina en gloria.
● Cristo es nuestra vida.
● Que podamos hacer eco de las palabras del Salmo 19:14 y dar gloria a Cristo hasta su regreso.
Salmo 19:14 , “Sean agradables a tus ojos, oh Jehová, roca mía y redentor mío, las palabras de mi boca y la meditación de mi corazón”.
